Join volunteers from the creek assessment and explore the wonders of the Butternut Valley as you take a guided hike on Calhoun Creek through the state forest. See old mill sites and gorges. Learn about the plants and rocks from a local Botanist and Geologist. We expect the hike to take 2-3 hours.
There are no trails so the hike is limited to those age 12 and older and requires good footing as the creek can be slippery.
Dress appropriately. Sturdy footwear that can get wet is advised as are lightweight long pants. Lightweight gloves and a long-sleeved shirt can help protect against thorn bushes. Walking sticks are recommended.
Participation is limited so please register via the button in the top left corner of the page. Maggie Brenner and Tom Washbon will be leading the hike along with Les Hasbargen. Contact Maggie if you have questions: brenner_maggie@yahoo.com
