BVA was named 2026 Conservationist of the Year by OCCA for its environmental sustainability and collaboration work in Otsego County.

This week, New York State Department of Financial Services officially designated the Butternut Valley as a Banking Development District, supporting expanded access to local banking through the new Sidney Federal Credit Union branch in Morris—including a $35 million investment.

BVA was proud to help rally community support for this designation and advocate for solutions that strengthen quality of life in rural communities.

Butternut Valley Alliance (BVA) has appointed Otsego County native Cassandra Miller as its first full-time executive director since the community-led nonprofit’s founding in 2008.
